The Steinbeis Foundation comprises a Board of Directors (Chairman: Prof. Dr. Heinz Trasch), a Board of Trustees and a Committee (Chairman: Prof. Dr. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Max Syrbe). Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Johann Löhn who established and expanded the Steinbeis Foundation from 1983 until 2004 is its honorary trustee.

These form a focal coordination umbrella under which the Steinbeis Transfer Network operates. Steinbeis GmbH & Co for Technology Transfer (Management: Prof. Dr. Heinz Trasch [Chairman], Prof. Dr. Michael Auer) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Steinbeis Foundation and is responsible for all business activities. The company is also responsible for all the Steinbeis Units, the companies in the Steinbeis Network and their shareholdings.
